I won't be eating turkey, but I will be trotting for a great cause!
As many of you know, the homeless population is a community I feel strongly about helping and this Thanksgiving morning, I will be thinking of them and all of you!
I am particpating in Father Joe's Villages 16th Annual Thanksgiving Day 5K. In San Diego we have the 4th largest homeless population in the country. There is not anywhere for them to go because we also have the lowest rental vacancy rates in the country.
I am sure many of you will be celebrating what you are thankful in your own lives, so I am asking if you can, help support those who do not have as much.
The proceeds of this 5K will help Father Joe's Villages provide and serve close to #1MillionMeals in 2018 to our homeless neighbors in need.
Father Joe's Villages helps provide hope, medical treatment, therapeutic childcare, employment education and training, mental health services, substance abuse treatment, and housing to those in need.
Any amount you can pledge is most appreciated. As an alterantive to donation, I encourage you to smile and just say hello if you see someone who might be in need of a little humanity. As simple as it sounds, a smile goes a long way!
